Product Description

Recently, a pastor friend strongly recommended New Evangelicalism, stating it was the best book hes read in 20 years. My friend was right; it is excellent. I dont know how the author managed to squeeze so much vital information into just over 200 pages.

The book summarizes the history of the postmodern/emergent church movement, identifying its top figures, where they came from, how they went astray and where they are headed. The roles of Fuller Theological Seminary, management guru Peter Drucker, and purpose driven pastor Rick Warren are examined in detail (along with many other institutions and popular leaders.) The inerrancy of Scripture is identified as the chief dividing line between Emergent and Non-Emergent Christianity. Emergent leaders and activities are also linked to key globalist groups such as the Council on Foreign Relations.

The book covers so much territory that readers may disagree with certain points. However, it is low in rhetoric and high in quality of content. Paul Smith writes with a Pastors heart in a spirit of love and concern. His approach is biblical and evenhanded not wanting to unnecessarily condemn anyone, but presenting the facts as accurately and fairly as possible. He has a gift of taking complex details and organizing them into an easy-to-understand format.

Paul Smith is the brother of Pastor Chuck Smith, founder of the Calvary Chapel movement Costa Mesa, California. This is a book every discerning Christian should read!
